January 22, 2013
On January 22, 2013 I walked into Office Max and ask the clerk for a hard drive for a Dell Inspiron 2200 laptop computer. I asked the price for the hard drive and the clerk informed me of the price. I told the clerk I would go across the road and get the hard drive at Office Depot for a lot less. He then replied "We will match their price, I just need to verify the price." I replied,"Alright." The clerk then got another clerk and informed him as to what I was looking for. That clerk went into a small room and handed me a box and told me that is what I needed. I paid for the product and took it home. After taking the old hard drive out of the lap top I then opened the new one to find it was not what I needed. I returned the hard drive the following week. The clerks did not treat me very respectful. I told them that was not the hard drive I was needing. The clerk ask what kind the lap top was and I told him again it was a Dell inspiron 2200. He then replied that Office Max did not carry that type and told me to go to some store that had junk. The clerks were rude and did not want to return my money. When I purchased the hard drive they did not inform me that there would be a 15% restocking fee. The one clerk said it was 12% and the other said no it was 15% restocking fee. I would advise any one never shop there. It was like I got robbed in broad day light. I will never shop there again. Poor business practice.

This girl with the Grump Cat Name Tag
This one employee had a Grumpy Cat name tag, needless to say she was pretty freaking awesome. I mean, how could you no be? With a name tag like that? IMPOSSIBLE. Anyways, awesome location, best Ive been to, and trust me, Ive sampled OfficeMaxs across the country, and this one is by far on of the best. The employees are freindly, and attractive, and know their stuff, they've helped me with a bunch of Tech Questions. Dont even get me started on the Copy Department, runs like a well oiled machine! Greatest, cheapest, fastest copies anywhere this side of the Mississippi, and the employees are friendly to boot! Ive gotten some pretty strange stuff copied, and not once did anyone bat an eye, very professional. KEEP ON KEEPIN ON

Item never received but charged
I have ordered in July 2012 online 2 items, one item received within a week and didn't received the bag. Followed up with customer service couple times, finally asked them to cancel the order and issue rewards for the item I have received. After couple calls finally they issued the rewards for the item. Then I totally forgot about it. In January a charge appeared on credit card statement for the missing item. Called credit card company and Disputed the charges . Credit card company investigated and said OfficeMax showing a fedex delivery. But I never received the product. Called OfficeMax again. OfficeMax has very poor customer service

Computer repair service, misleading
I'm sure that one will respond!! But the office max on 12255 biscayne blvd, has very rude employee, that calls herself a supervisor, I took my computer for repair, and the nightmare began, ( if I'm contacted I will continue) it's going on two weeks and I still don't have my computer. But I have alot of attitude from the staff, I will never go in this store again, I' have to go buy a new computer, !!! My time and emotions have been lost, my computer is needed because of family oneeds on a daily basis, when I told the supervisor my story, I was told "don't be sarcastic" but if you know why I'm calling because your we're told by the person answer the phone, why do you act like your not aware, and suddenly you can't find your repair person to answer the questions , the same person "Ahmed" who forgot to ship my computer in the first place, I spoke with the repair shop, they received the computer 5 days late. Etc

Worst Store. Ever.
I’m so pissed off, twice. For one, the store charges as quick as you hit the “submit order” button; in the meantime, it’s almost impossible to make a return. As everything is online, if the charge can be made lightning fast, it’s refund should be as easy and as fast as it makes charge. I doubt the system is intentionally set up to make the refund very difficult and discourage customers to cancel an order/return items. What an idiotic company! For two, most of its employees act likely you owe them ten thousand bucks and don’t have the basic courtesy or whatever you even expect from a normal person. Really, its CEO should be fired onsite and return most, if not all of the money he/she has been paid for no-service. I'm so happy OfficeMax is going belly up. What a good riddance! This eyesore is finally going to disappear from the earth.

Office max stole my money
I ordered 4 cross pens before Christmas, I was going to use it as the Christmas gifts. But I did not receive my order before Christmas instead I received my order in January and it was only 1 pen. When I called Office Max, and told them that I received only one pen, they said they would send the rest of it by January 21 since it would be sent from different locations. January 21 has passed, when I asked them where is the rest of pen since I have not received the rest of them, they said they will check on the status, and the representative from Office Max sent me an email and stated Office Max will reimburse my money, but till now I have not received my money/refund. I am very dissatisfied with this company. I feel like they stole my money. I worked hard for my money.

Never received order, refused to reimburse
Ordered online in November hoping to receive before Christmas. Item never arrived. Called and emailed customer service 8 times and was told each time there was no tracking information available. Told I would receive item by December 26th. I called to cancel the order on December 31st, as it had still not arrived. I was told I could not receive a reimbursement until they "track" the shipment. Asked if they suddenly had tracking information on the item and was told no, they did not. I asked for a time frame for when my money would be reimbursed, they said they cannot give me a time frame, as it depends on when they "find" the item. Worse company I have ever dealt with online.

1st and ONLY time I am EVER shopping at OfficeMax--rude workers and bad refund policy
I bought a business landline phone for my home office at OfficeMax in Liberty, MO. The phone did not work with my headset so I returned to the store 3 days later to return it and see if they have anything else that would work. They did not have anything in store that would work and the sales person (teenager) was not helpful at all. I asked if I could just return it because I had the box and all the accessories it came with plus the receipt. He and his supervisor said they were unable to give me a refund because I paid with a debit card and I didnt have it with me. I live an hour away from the store so they even had me call my husband to get the card # and give it to them verbally, which I did and had to repeat myself atleast 5 times so if they wanted they could have memorized the numbers. They said that their system wouldn't give me a cash refund and my bank was the one not authorizing the payment to be put back on the debit card. I explained that I didnt want store credit because they dont have the item I need in the store. After about an hour of arguing with me they called the corporate office and said they had to override their system in order to give me cash. They were not polite nor do I think they knew what they were doing. I will never shop at OfficeMax again and I am telling everyone I know this ridiculous story.

Customer Service, What Customer Service?
Ordered a set of Turtlebeach headphones on line and the next day I received a notice that shipping was delayed and the item was going to ship from another location. The item will ship in 7 days, no problem as I ordered a month ahead of time. Two weeks later no headset and no word from Office Max so I called customer service and the lady couldn't explain what had happened but she was going to send my order up the chain of command to get an answer on it. She said someone would call or email me on Monday as this was Saturday I called. So of course no email or call on Monday, so I emailed them on Tuesday morning about this order and I even warned them that if I didn't hear back from them today I would trash them on the internet, still no call or email! I run an online business and there is no reason what so ever for this type of customer service. Office Max won't be around long and I certainly wouldn't ever buy from them again.

OFFICE MAX will not deliver for you
I bought a home printer online during the black Friday weekend. After the first week, they emailed they would source it from another warehouse, after the next week, they're now saying it is backstocked and will ship no sooner than a month later. I called customer service and they couldn't have been less helpful. They might as well get rid of the live agents and substitute a canned response to save a few dollars. I could have bought this printer at a number of retailers that weekend, but never again from a company like this with no inventory control!!

Sold me network printer instead of a wireless one
OfficeMax in Orangeburg, South Carolina sold me a network printer (HP) instead of a wireless one although I made the point I needed a completely wireless printer to use it in another part of the house. What a waste of time. My loss is my time wasted and gasoline money. Enter at least 100 words... hahaha! More words right here. More words? OK, here goes more words! Orem, UT Office Max deceptive Service Protection Plan
In short, the service in the store was horrible, the warranty is a scam, and the entire thing was deceptive, degrading, and despicable. I purchased an office chair at this OfficeMax on 9/15/11. It was a $180 chair that was discounted to $100. I was told by the sales associate and a manager or supervisor that if I purchased the 3 year warranty on the chair that it would be replaced if anything happened to it, no questions asked. I was wary of this promise so I checked the service protection booklet as well. It said that "If your furniture fails, we arrange to have it repaired and pay the bill - no deductibles, no hidden fees. If your product cannot be repaired, it will be replaced." Less than a year later and the seams are coming apart on the chair. I call the customer service number and they tell me (after more than an hour wait) that they can reimburse me for the $100 purchase price of the chair, but nothing more. They will not arrange to have it repaired; they said that wasn't even an option. When I asked to have it replaced, they said they don't have a warehouse with products and that they never replace anything, they just reimburse the customer for the purchase price. I assumed there must be some misunderstanding and spoke to a supervisor on the phone to no avail. I then went into the store to try to get my chair replaced. I spoke to Ryan, the store manager. He told me he could do nothing at all. He couldn't give me money or a chair. He told me that he found nothing confusing about the service protection pamphlet, despite it never even using the words "reimburse" or "purchase price" anywhere. He told me that he didn't understand why I found it confusing, that no one in his twelve years had ever complained about not being able to get the product they purchased a warranty for replaced with the same or an equivalent product. He insinuated, without actually saying it, that I was an *** and he just wished I would leave. I asked him, "Which is more clear, more helpful to the customer, or better represents the actual warranty program: 'If your product cannot be repaired, it will be replaced.' [this being what is actually written in the pamphlet] or 'If your product cannot be repaired, you will be reimbursed for the purchase price of the product, not including any discounts on the original retail price.'" [this being what the program actually is]. He literally laughed at me and said he found nothing confusing about the wording in the pamphlet. In the end, I received nothing for my time, effort, and frustrations except to have a store manager laugh at me for wanting the chair I purchased to be replaced with the same or an equivalent product. Utterly disgusting customer service.

Wouldn't honor Max Assurance plan
I bought a HP desktop computer (Pavillion p7-1110 PC) and service protection plan #217**** and Premium setup plan. The PC cost was $529.99, the Max Assurance plan was $89.99, and the Premiun Setup was $69.99. After 9 mounts use I had trouble with the PC (wouldn"t log on to internet) took the PC back to store where I purchased it. Technicion confirmed That I did have a problem. He said for $129.00 dollars he would look at it for me. I told him that was unacceptable beings I had bought a 2 year protection plan ($89.99 and $ 69.99 dollars). Took the PC back home with me and after much time I fount a system reset place, did a reset and it has been working fine since. I spence time because I am very computer ILLITERATE. Every retail store also posts return information on the back of the receipt. That's a physical copy you take home.
Who actually reads the return policy at the register? No one. They ask the employees.
Or I read the back of my receipt. There's no excuse.
They have the return policy posted at the register and there is stickers on the tech items that state 15% restocking fee, the cashier puts that on at the register. However, if you did not receive that sticker on your item...then I can see them waving the fee.
Now if the sticker was put on your item, and you were informed of it, then that is of your own fault for taking the risk. OfficeMax isn't the only retail store that has restocking fees.
Retail stores are required by state and federal law to prominently post notices about their return policies - including whether there are restrictions or re-stocking fees on electronics. It's not sufficient to have this information printed on the back of the receipt that you get after the transaction is completed.
Office Max is notorious for not honoring the law or its own published policies. Push back - there is a corporate center the store is supposed to call when there is a dispute. Also, the junior managers will try to prevent you from learning the name of the real store manager who is authorized to handle this.
Take a look at your state's office for consumer protection website. I always carry a copy of my state's retail law with me when I go to Office Max because I've had so much difficulty with this chain.
There is a 14 day return policy on all tech items. They may be subject to a 15 percent restocking fee.
Computers, printers, hardrives, telephones, calculators are some that apply. It's because they have to send that item back to the manufacturer thus losing out on money. They try to recover some of the loss through the fee.
The cashier should have put a 14 day sticker on your item, it also says it on the back of your receipt. If unsure of the return policy, I would have asked.
